Welcome to the North West Research Association

In 2002 a group of marine scientists and interested partners came together with a common interest in the biology and environment of the Ningaloo Reef. This led to the formation of the North West Research Association Inc., with the intention of furthering marine science research in the Northwest. Because of the difficulties of conducting research in such a remote location, one of the initial aims of the Association has been to establish a marine field station at Coral Bay, with the support of the Murdoch Foundation and Bayview Coral Bay.

The objectives of the Association are:

  • To promote and facilitate research that will further our knowledge, understanding and conservation of the natural environment of the North West Cape region of Western Australia
  • To manage a Research Station at Coral Bay
  • To fundraise to support the objectives of the Association
